Our Founder
A prophet of compassion. Affectionate father to the poor and neglected. Sacrificed for the thousands of suffering. Sowed the seeds of compassion through the foundation of Snehagiri Missionary Sisters.
Lighted the flame of kindness in the inner corners of all he met. A heavenly messenger still living in the memories of one and all. That was Rev. Fr. Abraham Kaippanplackal, the founder of Snehagiri Missionary Sisters.

He lived for the poor, among the poor and with the poor till the last breath. Showering his blessings from above to his daughters, all the poor in our care and on the compassionate minds who support us.

We Love God
We Believe in God
Snehagiri Missionary Sisters is an indigenous religious community in the Syro-Malabar Church with a Specific Charism of Witnessing the compassionate love of Jesus among the poor and abandoned, deriving spiritual power and strength from the Holy Eucharist. Inspired by the words of Jesus Christ “Whenever you did this for one of the least important of these brothers of mine, you did it for me” (Mt. 25:40), the religious community of the Snehagiri (SMS) was founded in the diocese of Palai on 24th May 1969 by Rev. Fr. Abraham Kaippanplackal.

The Motto of Snehagiri Missionary Sisters is ‘Jesus Alone’. The power and strength of a Snehagiri Sister is to be in Jesus and in ‘Jesus alone’. Jesus is always with us as a consistent friend and shower of continuous blessings to our life. Personal love and close relationship with Jesus should be the Motto of a Snehagiri Sister. This Motto is motivating each Snehagiri Missioanry Sister for Snehadanena deenasevartham samarpitham- to dedicate for rendering love, compassion and service through her consecrated life.

The vision of the sacrificial life of Snehagiri Missionary Sisters is to be an another Christ among the poor and needy.  A main part of the life of Jesus was spent for healing the sick, to preach the gospel to the poor; to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind. His healing touch, loving words, his presence and the miracles he had done led the people to him and through this healing ministry Jesus lived in their mind.

Our mission is to become one with people whom we serve and lead the people to the love of God and thus we extend the kingdom of God.Following the path of Jesus and his disciples Snehagiri Missionary Sisters are engaged in the compassionate life of Jesus through various apostolic activities. We give strength, support and thus firm the weak and broken mind by sharing the affirmative love of Jesus. Our ministry is to get their wounds healed through each of her words and deeds above all through her loving presence.
